Severance Hospital
Severance Hospital of Yonsei University, located in Seoul, South Korea, is at the forefront of modern medicine. Originally founded by an American missionary in 1885, the facility has undergone significant changes, including the addition of a new 24-story, 1,006-bed hospital building, which opened in May of 2005. Overall, Severance houses an astounding 2,000 + beds, making it among the largest hospitals in Asia. Severance is the first and currently only Joint Commission International (JCI) accredited facility in the country.
